“I can tell you love me.”
He said it. Both of us gazing over Castlewood Bluffs, with the tallest of trees hundreds of feet below us. I was scared. I swallowed hard. “You can?” was all I could whisper in reply. He smiled, “I’ve actually known for a long time.” I got defensive and squeaked out a “…What?” He eased my tension and laughed. “No silly, I’ve known I’ve loved you for a long time.” I got scared again. “I’ve never told anyone I loved them.” I flash backed to ex-boyfriends and nonexistent feelings. I shuddered. This was different. “I’m not asking you to say anything. But I love you.” Those three words sent waves of heat through my body like some romance novel. I smiled and tears rushed to my eyes. “I love you too,” was the last thing I said before his lips silenced mine.
